900 bags of fertilizer spill onto Route 30, Route 222 following crash

WHERE WE FIND NEWS 8’S KATELYN SMITH. KATELYN: THIS ROADWAY JUST RE-OPENED ABOUT 15 MINUTES AGO AND IT WAS THIS CURVE ON THE RAMP WHERE YOU SEE THIS WHITE CAR COMING NOW, THAT’S WHERE THE TRUCK FLIPPED OVER ACCORDING TO MANHEIM TOWNSHIP POLICE AND THEN IT HIT A TRUCK GOING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION ON THIS RAMP RIGHT BESIDE IT.>>IT’S A MAJOR HIGHWAY. WE CAN EXPECT SOME MAJOR TRAFFIC DELAY. KATELYN: ALL DAY LONG. THE CRASH HAPPENED BEFORE NOON. THE TOP OF THE TRACTOR-TRAILER SPLIT OPEN, POURING OUT ABOUT 8900 BAGS OF FERTILIZER AND SOME OF THOSE BAGS SPLIT OPEN AS WELL. The fire department was out there, they determined that it’s not hazardous materials…they’re not concerned about it KATELYN: DRIVERS SEEMED TO BE RUBBERNECKING SLOW TRAFFIC EVEN MORE. THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK WENT TO THE HOSPITAL WITH MINOR INJURIES AND WHEN HIS TRUCK FELL, IT HIT ANOTHER TRACTOR-TRAILER. THAT DRIVER JUST HAD SOME SCRATCHES. POLICE DO NOT THINK THE CURVE CAUSED THE CRASH.>>I WOULDN’T SAY THAT IT’S A PROBLEM AT THIS POINT IN TIME.>>POLICE ARE LOOKING INTO WHETHER THAT DRIVER MAY HAVE BEEN GOING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS OR IF MAYBE JUST THE LOAD SHIFTED IN THAT TRACTOR-TRAILER WITH ALL THAT FERTILIZER IN THE BACK. NO CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED RIGHT NOW AND POLICE HAVE NOT
