Nearly 20% of New York City trash is compostable
food waste. Instead of throwing them in the trash, bring your frozen food scraps to collection
sites at select Queens Libraries. We take fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grinds
and more. But no meat, dairy, or oils, please. We collect over two tons of food waste every
month. Partnering up with the build it green project and the NYC compost. We also have
worm bins on site at the library. You could even make one for your home. Learn more about composting and other ways
to be green at your local Queens Library!
