Hi I’m Brad Wolfe with or Organo-Lawn and
today we’re going to be talking about the amazing soil conditioner called Humate.
Humate soil conditioner is basically million-year-old organic matter that is
mined from the earth, that we use as a compost top dressing. As you can see
humate is jet-black or coal-like in color. Believe it or not, it is considered
to be edible. Think of Humate as being a super concentrated form of an organic
compost. One application of Humate soil conditioner is the equivalent of doing a
1/2 inch top dressing of a quality organic compost. It is important to
understand that Humate is not a fertilizer, because it is not comprised
of nitrogen. Humate is fulvic acid and humic acid which are extremely
beneficial to plants and the soil health. It will also stimulate beneficial
microbial activity in the soil. Humate as a wonderful soil conditioner and if
it is used 2 or 3 times per year it can break up even the most clay like soils.
In an organic lawn care program Humate is a very powerful product that has
incredible results. Humate will break up clay soils, it will green up a lawn
without making it grow any faster, it will help protect lawns from heat and
drought stress, Humate will stimulate beneficial microbial activity in soils,
and it will even help prevent lawn diseases like necrotic ring spot and ascochyta leaf blight. Humate soil conditioner is an important aspect of
organic lawn care and it can be applied to a lawn at any time of the year.
We strongly recommend following the 1,2,3,2,1 lawn watering technique to get
