Important Announcement From California Gardening + Summer Vegetable Harvests

so we harvested all the vegetables from
the California garden bountiful harvest and an important announcement coming up
in today’s episode of California gardening now you might be wondering why
I did not post a video in a long time well the reason is California gardening
is moving we are moving to a new location with a bigger and better
backyard and hopefully a much better garden than what we have right now and
more on this later but first let’s look at the harvest we made this month
starting with hyacinth beans now we have been growing hyacinth beans for many
years and this year we had a very productive harvest of hyacinth beans
they grew very well they grow not only in the summer season but also towards
the cooler season towards they fall and even towards winter so all in all we had
a great harvest of hyacinth beans very fresh very delicious hyacinth beans
harvested right in our garden now remember that you do need to cook
hyacinth beans before you eat them you cannot eat them raw
and I’ve been growing and eating hyacinth beans for many years now and it’s an
absolutely delicious vegetable to grow in your home garden
okra we were growing the nombo giant okra in our garden and we got a few
harvests although I wasn’t very happy with the way the okra grew this year moving on to butternut squash butternut
squash was one of the vegetables that we grew in our garden this year for the
first time and surprisingly the harvests were amazing butternut squash is a very
delicious vegetable if you haven’t grown it please do give it a shot it’s so easy
to grow these butternut squashes are almost disease-free you might get some
powdery mildew in some plants but overall I was very happy with the way
these plants grew and I thoroughly enjoyed harvesting these butternut
squashes in my garden eggplants we were growing this amethyst variety of
eggplant which is a new variety we tried this year and these beautiful looking at
plants were also very delicious we were growing these in whiskey barrel
containers and they are sufficient to grow about two or three plants in just
one whiskey barrel and as you can see the harvest here it’s beautiful we got a
lot of eggplants from this eggplant variety and you can check out this
eggplant variety in your local Home Depot or local Home Depot is selling the
amethyst eggplant which is why we tried out growing it this year
and moving on to bananas we were growing a Rajapuri bananas and this banana
flower is very nice very delicious we harvested a big Rajapuri banana flower
from this plant and if you haven’t eaten banana flowers before I would highly
recommend you give it a shot they are very delicious and now about what’s
happening to the California Garden we were busy moving last month and that’s
why we couldn’t post any videos this is how the new California garden will look
like in the future we have a lot of space in our backyard as well as the
front yard and we are hoping to grow some vegetable raised beds in our side
yard which you see here this is a new proposed location for the raised beds
and we also will have some dwarf fruit trees along the sides the side yard as
you can see here so this will take a lot of time and you can follow me along in
this journey of turning this almost barren land into a productive vegetable
garden and while we are setting up this garden we have plenty of videos to share
so if you haven’t subscribed yet do it that subscribe button and we will have
new videos for you very soon and there we have it folks that was our episode on
the August episode for California gardening we’ll see you again soon happy
