We decided to think about transitioning
to organic when we were doing a transition, a farm plan transition
for the family. The only way that could continue to be a dairy would be if we
were organic and getting an organic paid price. The initial concern is – the health
of the cows is the biggest thing. I was unsure that I could manage them
organically, but I think with a switch of feed that our cows are healthier than they
ever have been. On a community level, I see that organic dairy is carrying the
farm communities in this area.
