Today I share with you how to make vermicompost and make compost cow to grow vegetables. This is my mini vegetable garden just finished. I have planted salad seeds, zucchini, yellow squash and some other vegetables in this garden. These are my zucchini and yellow squash trees. Using vermicompost to grow vegetables is very good. Vermicompost has the good effect of improving soil, and providing nutrition for plants. You can buy vermicompost at the fertilizer store or raise earthworm at home to produce vermicompost. You can use waste vegetables or fruit to raise earthworms and harvest vermicompost to fertilize for plants. 1. How to raise earthworm at home. You can buy earthworm breeds at the store. Or catch earthworms from vermicompost bought from the store to raise I bought vermicompost from the store, sometimes I met a few bags containing earthworms like this. Now I will catch these worms to raise. You can use the bucket like this to raise earthworm. I pour 1 thin layer of vermicompost containing the earthworm to raise. Then I take a large pot like this to cover up the bucket. Because earthworm are very afraid of light You can also use styrofoam container. You make holes in the lid and you should make holes in the bottom to drain water Important note
It is recommended to make the drainage hole, if not, make sure that when feeding is not water stagnant. The place that you put the earthworms container should be covered to avoid the rain. The place that you put the earthworms container need to be covered dark. Otherwise you need to cover by the cloth or cardboard on the top and then cover the lid of styrofoam container or bucket. What do earthworms eat? You can use fruit peels, waste vegetables to feed the earthworm. You should use watermelon rind, dragon fruit peel, banana peel Should not use shells with essential oils such as oranges, grapefruit and tangerines. I turn the peels like this, you should not feed the earthworm too much. If you have a lot of fruit peels or vegetable waste, you should store them in a styrofoam container and feed the earthworms gradually. After 1-2 days, the fruit peels will decompose and the earthworms can eat. Or you can buy cow dung at the store to raise the earthworms. The cow dung bought at the store is usually dry, so it must be soaked in water before the worm can be eat, I will share later. The most appropriate way is using fresh cow dung to feed the earthworms,
just add a little bit water and the earthworm will eat very easy. Raising earthworms with goat dung. Goat dung needs to be soaked in water for 1 day. After 1 day soak in water. I poured into the pots like this and waited for 7-8 hours to drain. After 7-8 hours the goat dung is drained and ready to feed the earthworm. I dumped it into rows like this. You pour it into row and not pour full the surface The place that you put the earthworms container need to be covered dark. Otherwise you need to cover by the cloth or cardboard on the top and then cover the lid of styrofoam container or bucket. If raising earthworms in a bucket, then I poured into a small pile like this I feed twice a week, when it is nearly full of buckets or styrofoam container, I will harvest vermicompost. Harvest vermicompost. To harvest vermicompost, I pour it out like this. I wait about 2-3 minutes, earthworms are afraid of light, so I will go under. I harvested a layer of about 3-4 cm thin vermicompost. Then, I repeat the steps. Continue until there is a final thin layer containing earthworms, i pour in the styrofoam continue to continue feeding. If you see earthworms that reproduce a lot, you can separate to another styrofoam container. There are 3 main reasons make earthworms leave. The first reason: water stagnation, if you use fresh cow dung, you should not mix too much water into the cow dung. With goat dung, you soak into the water, pour into pots and wait for 7-8 hours then feed the earthworms. The second reason is that you give earthworms too much food. You should feed just enough, do not feed too much. The third reason is the lack of food for earthworms. 2. How to compost cow. With fresh cow dung, you put them in bags and put them like this. Over time, fresh cow dung will gradually decompose and can fertilize the plant. If you buy cow dung from a store, you need to make it decompose. This is cow dung bag I bought at the store, it is dry and has not been Completely decomposed. I pour cow dung into a styrofoam container, add water and cover I will soak for about 1 day 1 day later. I poured into another styrofoam container with holes to drain I will wait about 7-8 hours. 7-8 hours later. Now I will mix into the powder to compost. Now, you can also use this cow compost to grow earthworms. You buy powder for composting like this I put cow dung back into the styrofoam container at the beginning which use to soak cow dung. Each layer about 4-5 cm of cow dung and sprinkle with powder to compost. I sprinkle a little of super phosphate. Then I mix well. The next layers, i do the same thing. You can also use liquid trichoderma bacillus like this. It works to compost manure. I mixed 5ml with 1 liter of water. Shake well before using. So, I mixed 8ml with 1.5 liters of water. Mix well, you should also sprinkle a little of super phosphate to be better. I cover it, after about 1-1.5 months, cow dung has been composted. This is another styrofoam box, this cow dung has been composted, very soft and porous. This styrofoam container is the vermicompost I harvested. I mixed cow dung compost and vermicompost into the soil to grow vegetables. 4 days old. 6 days old. Next videos. How to make coco peat compost. Strawberry plant are grown with coco peat compost.
